Hoping to continue the good efforts that began in 2020, this monthly clean-up opportunity led by Bishops Trail Squad meets at 10:30am-12:30pm each month. Dates can be found on our Upcoming Events page here. Gloves, buckets and other tools are provided and tasks vary each month depending on the needs, projects and pedestrian traffic.

We start at the corner of Torrey Pines Road and Coast Walk and move along the trail to the Cave Store and Goldfish Point.

2024 overview | BOY SCOUTS TROOP #4

This past year, we were thrilled to have partnered again with La Jolla Boy Scout Troop #4, helping several Scouts achieve their Eagle Rank by completing needed projects along the trail.

B.I.G. shout out to all the amazing parent troop leaders led by Irene McCann who all tirelessly coordinate scout activities with the extraordinary parents who keep their sons engaged. Every parent associated with Troop #4 has been committed to developing tomorrow’s leaders.  These young men would not be where they are without the level of support this exceptional parental system provides.  Below you will see this year’s newly minted Eagle Scouts and their projects:

1. George McCann – Two new benches on Coast Walk Trail
2. Kaden Belt – Soil erosion rock install on Devils Slide
3. Cooper Smith – Two new benches on Coast Walk Trail
4. Leo Souza – New covered recycle bin at Prospect Trail head
5. Ben Soderstrom – New bench & native plants @ Goldfish Point
6. Grant Williams – New post & chain along Coast Walk’s steep cliff area

In 2023, we secured a three-year extension on our Right of Entry (ROE) permit, paving the way for continued trail improvements completed in 2024 outlined below:

✔ Installation and repair of safety post-and-chain barriers to protect trail users

✔ Stabilizing a mid-trail slope for erosion control and safety

✔ Restoring 150 additional native plants and removing invasive vegetation

✔ Repairing and replacing 5 benches for visitors to enjoy the stunning views.  Last two remaining set for install this March

✔ Permitting and planning Coast Walk Bridge repairs to be completed this spring
